Click play to reveal a Moving Counter-Map of Malta’s Borders which accounts for the movements of the informants from this study. The borders of Malta, within this framework, finds those borders within each of the countries of origin and countries of transit – to varying degrees.
Recall that some of these borders do not register for the most privileged border-crossers, others experience the border as a one-time, one-off experience, and still yet, some border-crossers (even those who crossed the physical borders nearly 20 years ago) sense these borders in quotidian ways: continuous, ever-present, unceasing.
The analysis presented here supports this map as representative of the phenomenological borders of Malta.
